Firstly its not Donnie – Its his sister Samantha Darko in the film ‘S. Darko’ yet Jake Gyllenhall doesn’t return (stuck doing the Prince of Persia?) But it doesn’t matter, it seems to me that it doesn’t refer too much to the original cult classic Donnie Darko.
A quick look at Joaquin Phoenix’s CV shows that he was very much in the mainstream of Hollywood, notably in films such as the Gladiator(pictured) and Walk the Line.
Spanning over 20 films why on earth has he decided to retire from acting to concentrate more on a rather unusual career?!
Saw films nowadays usually consist of me sitting around chuckling at others around me while they squirm at the supposed gore and torture being shown on the screen. My personal thoughts at that the series has gone on probably for about 5 films too many. I once thought Saw II was okay, but since then watching Saw III, IV and V made the second a little bit… pedestrian. Just in case there has been a skull shattering change in direction from the films it might be something to consider reading on.
